New Zealand university student auctions her virginity on internet

A poor university student in New Zealand who offered her virginity on an auction site has accepted a €23,000 offer to sleep with a stranger.

The 19-year-old, who has not been named or pictured, said she posted the advert to help pay for her university fees.

The girl, from Northland, in New Zealand’s north island, is only known by her username Unigirl.

She wrote on auction site ineed.co.nz after the auction had finished at NZ$46,000: “I have accepted an offer in excess of $NZ45,000, which is way beyond what I dreamed.”

The student added that the advert had been viewed by more than 30,000 people and had received more than 1200 offers.

She wrote: “Thank you to the more than 30,000 people who viewed my ad and to the more than 1200 offers made.”

In the auction she described herself as attractive, fit and healthy and that she had never been in a sexual relationship.

She wrote: “I have never had a sexual relationship and am still a virgin.

“I am offering my virginity by tender to the highest bidder as long as all personal safety aspects are observed.

“This is my decision made with full awareness of the circumstances and possible consequences.”

She added: “I am fit, healthy and have no medical conditions of any nature.

“I am a keen athlete and have a trim physique.”

The girl has not responded to any media requests for interviews.

Ross MacKenzie, the website proprietor, confirmed it was a legitimate posting.

He also defended the auction saying it was legal and did not offend society in general.

Mr MacKenzie said: Ineed does not place moral judgments on our members, believing in the fundamental rights of the individual.

National police spokesman Jon Neilson said no law appeared to have been breached.

But “we would suggest it’s not a safe practice,” he added.

Taiwan alters laws to ban sex, violence in media

Passage of a bill that outlaws explicit photos, television scenes and online graphics comes after officials issued two fines, totaling T$1 million ($30,900), against the publisher of mainstream newspaper Apple Daily over its online imagery.

“Entire families see this. Children see it. Only in Taiwan do we have these images. You go to Hong Kong and it’s not there,” said Ke Ming-hsiu, aide to legislator Hung Hsiu-chu who sponsored the bill with broad bi-partisan support.

“This isn’t news, so it won’t get protection under news freedom laws,” Ke said.

Parental complaints to the Taiwan government had soared before the city of Taipei fined Apple Daily’s publisher, a government official said.

Contrary to the popular impression that men are the only ones who can’t stand condoms, a recent study reveals that women find rubbers frustrating too. “I’m surprised by the striking similarity,” says University of Guelph sex professor Robin Milhausen, who teamed up with researchers at Indiana’s Kinsey Institute and Oxford University in England on this project.

In some ways, women are more turned off by condoms than men. Many said that the smell and taste of condoms was unenjoyable. Women also reported that condoms signaled a lack of trust in their partners, and made them feel distant. For some, condom use suggested that one partner had a disease from which the other needed protection. Complaints that condoms cause physical discomfort were also common. “[Condoms] can be drying and abrasive,” explains Milhausen, or the latex or lubricant may be irritating. Women also reported that condoms interfered with or decreased their partner’s orgasm and sensation.

Second Sex Club In Residential Neighborhood Closed

CBS 11 News has learned that another sex club has been operating in a North Texas neighborhood and nearby homeowners want it to stop. The street is Cordova Lane in McKinney and sources tell CBS 11 News that La Maison Joue is a so-called “swingers” club that, until recently, met at a hotel in Dallas.

“It’s a sex club. People meet, flirt, erotic talk. Some people are into voyeurism. They just go there to watch other couples,” according to a source who does not want to be identified.

In recent months a swingers club called “The Cherry Pit” has been scrutinized by police, city officials and neighbors in Duncanville. The organizer of the club in McKinney says she has nothing to do with the Cherry Pit.

“Bruno” is being sued again. Sacha Baron Cohen has been hit with 3 million libel lawsuit by a Palestinian peace activist over the 2009 mockumentary.

Ayman Abu Aita, a firm opponent of terrorists, claims the depiction of him in the film ruined his life.

In the film, Baron Cohen’s Austrian gay title character travels to the Ein El-Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon to meet a leader of the Al-Aqsa Brigades. Abu Aita was described as a “Terrorist group leader, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade” on the caption.

He claims he has been tricked into meeting the comedian in the first place. He first thought Baron Cohen was a German producing a film about Palestinians, according to the Daily Mail.

It’s easy to take a series like “The Legend of Zelda” for granted. The first game arrived on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, and with more than a dozen releases over 23 years, even the most dedicated “Zelda” fan can be forgiven for having skipped a game or two.

Some of those games — the original and 1998’s “Ocarina of Time” — are justly regarded as landmarks. Some admirers prefer darker-tinged entries like 2000’s “Majora’s Mask” and 2006’s “Twilight Princess.” The one title that divided “Zelda” loyalists most was 2003’s “The Wind Waker,” which gave protagonist Link a younger, more cartoony appearance.

“The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks” (Nintendo, for the DS, US$34.99) follows directly from 2007’s “Phantom Hourglass” and shares the cel-shaded look of “The Wind Waker.”

That cuteness factor may fool you into thinking “Spirit Tracks” is kid’s stuff, but be warned: It features some of the most ornery puzzles in the history of the franchise.

Google Pledges to Open AppJet EtherPads After User Outcry

Everyone makes mistakes now and then; the hard part is admitting it. Yet that seems to be just what Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) did on Saturday following its acquisition of AppJet, maker of the EtherPad collaborative word processor.

The news first broke last Friday, when it was announced on the EtherPad blog that Google had acquired San Francisco-based AppJet.

AppJet’s EtherPad is sometimes likened to Google Docs, but with the addition of real-time collaborative capabilities.

Along with that announcement, meanwhile, came word that EtherPad would no longer be available after March 31, 2010, and that no new free public “pads” — or collaborative documents — could be created. EtherPad’s team, the announcement read, would begin focusing its efforts on Google Wave instead.

Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration in which people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos and maps.
